It’s time for Oscar season. Telluride (8/31–9/4), TIFF (9/7–17), Venice (8/30–9/9) and Cannes (5/16–27) are fully in the rearview, narrowing the field of likely winners. This shorter list is watchable for a regular film-lover like me. Now we scheme and wait until November/December as the awarded movies come to theaters and streaming.
The Oscar timelines is this:
- 11/18 Nomination submissions
- 12/21 Nomination shortlists announced (they only do this for some categories…documentary feature, intl feature, shorts etc) example
- 1/23 Final nominations announced
- 3/10 Award ceremony
